Engagement Portrait Shoots


Before every wedding we arrange to meet every couple at the venue(s) so we can discuss the details of the day and check out the best locations for photographs on the big day.

But as an optional extra, you can expand this meeting into an engagement shoot.

> What is an engagement shoot?

Well, it’s really a misnomer as it doesn’t take place when you get engaged! In reality, it can be done at any time between the engagement and the wedding. It is basically just a portrait shoot of the couple before their wedding. No doubt you have seen engagement images of royalty and celebrities – Will & Kate’s formal engagement portrait was shot just after the official announcement of their engagement but a good while before the wedding.

> Why have one?

One big reason is that many couples (particularly grooms!) are very nervous about being photographed and can actually get quite stressed about it before the wedding – and the last thing anyone needs before their wedding is additional stress! An engagement shoot gives you the chance to practice posing and to get used to the photographer being around! You’ll be surprised how easy and relaxed it can be once you’ve had a trial run!

Another reason is that the photos make a brilliant addition to your wedding day! Think about a lovely 16” x 12” print in a big frame on an easel at your reception, and a gold metallic pen ready for your guests to sign the mount! Then think of it over your fireplace with the signatures of all your family & friends around the image!

> What does it involve?

The shoot can be done at your pre-wedding meeting at the wedding venue itself. Alternatively you can arrange an extended shoot at a favourite location – park, seaside, urban, pretty, grungy, whatever suits your personality!
